Clarence Russell Sullivan of Monticello, Iowa, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at home with his family.
A Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, April 20th at the Jones County Fairgrounds Youth Development Center. Family visitation at 1:00 p.m. with the service at 2:00 p.m., with burial at a later date.
Clarence was born August 25, 1928, to Leo and Lelia Nabholtz Sullivan, the fifth of seven children, and grew up in Buchanan County. He served in the US Army 1950-1952. Clarence married Delores Emmert Mulligan, June 10, 1960 and together they farmed in eastern Iowa.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Delores, and his five children and their families: Lieutenant Colonel Joseph R. Sullivan, USA (Ret) (Patty) of Nokesville, VA, their children Matthew and Christina; Mark (Sherry) of Indianola, IA, their children Aubrey (Jamie) and Olivia; David (Darla) of Adel, IA their children Danielle (Zack), Caitlyn (Frank), and Ryan; Ed (Mary) Mulligan of Olin, IA, their children Angela (Chad) Wilson and children Samantha and Lili Fischer, Stephen (Carrie) Mulligan and children Grady, Ella, Micah, Remy, Zeke, and Thea; Phillip (Katie) Mulligan and children Logan and Isabella; Shannon (Bill) Meyer and children Maddy, William, Mary Jo, and Ian; Michael (Tina) Duffy and children Donovan and Dahna’Adel; and Helen (Jeff) Edwards of Cincinnati, OH and children Katherine (Derek), Elizabeth (Kevin) and Laura and children Helen, Jeffrey, Saliha, and Serra; one brother Don (Linda) Sullivan of Lamont, IA.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
The family requests no flowers; a memorial fund is being established.
Clarence is lovingly remembered for his fun humor, calmness in trials, and the deep love and joy he gifted his family and friends.
