Loras “Butch” Lahr, 62, of Dyersville, Iowa, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Princeville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 5 pm. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate.
Butch was born on February 26, 1955 the son of Clarence and Adella (Willenbring) Lahr. He married Julie Ann Thompson on June 25, 1983 and later divorced. Butch worked as a truck driver all of his life and loved the open road. He got engaged to Kathleen Jones on his 60th birthday and was to be married August 20, 2017. Butch passed away watching his favorite Western, “Red River”. He also appreciated watching Big Bang Theory which was what brought him and Kate together. Butch enjoyed bringing “junk” home from auctions. He loved his kids so much and coached them in baseball & soccer, but one of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a grandfather and taking on the name “Papa Butch”.
Survivors include 5 children: Jesse (Samantha) Lahr of Dyersville, Justin (Rosanne) Lahr of Epworth, Travis (Sidney) Lahr of Dubuque, Aaron Lahr of Dyersville, Shannon (fiancé Dustin Smiers) of Pasadena, TX, 6 grandchildren: Taylor, Skylor, Haylee, Henry, Tytus, and Tuck, father, Clarence Lahr of Dyersville, 2 sisters, Elaine (Lester) Stoffel of Morton, IL, Barb (John) Ronnau of Stilwell, KS, fiancé Kathleen Jones of Princeville, IL.
He is preceded in death by his mother Adella Lahr on September 1, 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
