RYAN, IOWA
Vernon E. Quint, 83, of Ryan died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 pm Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. Friends may continue to call after 9 am Wednesday, March 22, at the Church prior to the funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery south of Ryan.
Vernon was born July 5, 1933, in Worthington, Iowa the son of Joseph and Margaret (Bonert) Quint. They moved to Ryan in 1938, and he graduated from St. John’s High School in 1951. He married Catherine Mulvehill at Immaculate Conception, Masonville on August 24, 1955. He was a farmer and then worked for the MoorMan Feed Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, animals, winters in Arizona and trees.
Surviving are his children: Karen of Cedar Rapids, Don (Lisa) of Manchester, Dick (Jane) of Ryan and Fr. Dennis of Dyersville; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Quint of Manchester, and a sister, Catherine McQuillen of Marion; in-laws: Marie Broghammer of Manchester, Don Mulvehill of Pleasant Hill and Eileen Brunow of Cedar Rapids.
He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his siblings: Lawrence Quint, Loretta Vaske, Mary Vaske and Ves Quint; a sister-in-law, Peg Mulvehill.
