Elmer J. Weber, 81, of Dyersville, Iowa died Friday, April 15, 2011, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Dyersville Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Gross will officiate. Elmer was born August 31, 1921, in Bernard, Iowa the son of Ben and Anna (Erdmann) Weber. On November 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Greenwood in Farley, Iowa. Together they farmed near Bernard, Farley and Bankston, retiring in 2004 when they moved to Dyersville. In his spare time he preferred to go fishing. Surviving are his wife, Mary, a son, Duane (Mechelle) Weber of Dyersville; Diane Weber of Iowa City and Lori (Steve) Gingery of Boone; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Nicole (Eric) Rubner and their daughter Myia of Dyersville, Amanda Weber and her son, Carter Wachendorf of North Liberty, Melissa Weber (friend Brett Frasher) of Dyersville, Ben Ward (friend Rachel Frazier) of Shellsburg, Bob Ward of Breckenridge, CO, Stephanie Ward of Jefferson and Shannon Burrier of Iowa City; Siblings: Helen Gansemer of Dubuque, Clarence (Alice) Weber and Raymond (Doris) Weber both of Bernard and Emil (Darlene) Weber of Epworth; a sister-in-law, Norma Weber of Bernard; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Irene (Julius) Engelken of Earlville, Eldon (Linda) Greenwood Raymond (Verna) Greenwood, both of Farley and Rita Heims of Coggon. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leo Weber, a 2 brothers-in-law, Albert Gansemer and Elmer Heims. Elmer's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oak Crest Manor, and finally to Hospice of Dubuque, for their compassionate and wonderful care.
