Mimi (Marie) A. Lenane, 81, of Dyersville, Iowa died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at her home. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Delhi, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Gross with Rev. John Kremer concelebrating. Mimi was born on March 5, 1930, in Detroit, MI the daughter of James and Adele (Dunn) Singelyn. She earned her Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Detroit in 1952, and taught elementary classes in the City of Detroit Schools. On August 8, 1953, she married Patrick Lenane in Detroit. Together they moved around the Midwest while raising their family. Finally in 1970, they planted roots in Dyersville. Mimi began Mimi's Cellar in her home selling her art and antiques. She was heavily involved with the church conducting CEW and TEC weekends, Engaged Encounter and Religious Education. Her biggest love was playing word games with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Patrick, 8 children: Hugh (Dianne) of Asbury, Molly (Joe) Burger of Dubuque, Brian of Delhi, Kevin (Karen) of Iowa City, Adele Lenane of Dubuque, Terry (Julia "Gail") of Luxemburg, Frank (Chris) of North Liberty, Dr. Pat (Colleen) Lenane of Fort Dodge, IA, 15 grandchildren: Shane and Patrick Lenane, Jude (fiance Erica) Burger and Sally (John) Elstad, Lindsay (Christopher) Adolphs, Austin and Courtney Lenane, Jennifer, Alicia and Megan Lenane, Alex, Ivy and Max Lenane, Nickolas and Andrew Lenane; brothers: Robert (Mildred) Singelyn of Whitehall, MI, Daniel (Ann) Singelyn of Nashville, TN, and Paul (Nancy) Singelyn of Naperville, IL; Brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Linda Singelyn of Conneticut, Denis Lenane of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Thomas (Shirley) Lenane of Gross Pointe Woods, MI, Kathleen (Mike) Doonan of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Celia, an infant grandson, Michael Lenane, a brother James Syngelyn, brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Susan Lenane, David and Michael Lenane. Memorials are preferred to the Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Beckman High School or Hospice of Dubuque, with special thanks to the Ellen Kennedy Living Center Staff and Edna with Hospice of Dubuque for all of their loving care of Mimi.
