Obituary of Dula Katherine Bockenstedt

Dula K. Bockenstedt, 84, of Colesburg, died peacefully, Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colesburg. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, New Vienna. Rev. John Haugen will officiate.
Dula was born November 24, 1931 in New Vienna, the daughter of James and Agatha (Langel) Girouex. She married Laverne “Toby” Bockenstedt on November 26, 1955 in New Vienna. Together they farmed and raised their family northwest of New Vienna until retiring in 1985, when they moved to Colesburg.
Dula recieved her LPN at St. Mary’s School in Rochester, MN. She was a nurse her entire life until her retirement in 2011. Dula was recognized by the Governor for her many years of volunteer service in her community. She loved her family and the time she spent with them. Dula enjoyed spending time caring for her flowers. She and Toby traveled many places together including several trips to Germany, Spain, and most recently Dula took a trip to the Holy Land.
Survivors include her sons: Thomas (Celeste) of Iowa City, Peter (Ruth) of New Vienna, Andrew (Kimberly) of Iowa City and Matthew (Teresa) of Dyersville, 12 grandchildren: Austen, Rayanna and Landon Bockenstedt, Emily (Craig) Heims, Alicia (Paul) Overman, Nicholas (fiancé Keasha Monaghan) Bockenstedt, Shannon (Alex) Carrillo, Carley, Addie Bockenstedt, and stepgrand-son, Zach Brogan, Benjamin, Katelin Bockenstedt; 3 great grandchildren, Anna, Melanie, Evelyn Heims and 2 step-great-granddaughters: Lilly and Annie Johns; 2 Sisters: Patricia (Kenneth) Fortman of Rochester, MN, Jeannette (Elmer) Pitterle of Watertown, WI, Brother-in-law, John Walsh of Oak Park, IL, Sisters-in-laws, Grace Kirsch of Dyersville, Alice M. Bockenstedt of New Vienna, Virgene Bockenstedt of Dyersville,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Toby in 2013, infant son, Paul Anthony, 2 sisters Phyllis Walsh, Erna (Cletus) Hughes, in-laws: Clarence, Martin, Eugene Bockenstedt, Alice E. Bockenstedt,
