Dorothy A. Neuhaus, 79, of Dyersville, Iowa died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. and an American Legion Auxiliary and V.F. W Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 137. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. Dorothy was born January 29, 1933 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Pauline (Gravel) Weber. She married Aloysius S.Neuhaus on October 7, 1954 in Trenton, New Jersey. She served in the U.S. Navy and after her return, worked as a CNA at the Dyersville Community Hospital now Mercy Health Center until her retirement in 1995. Dorothy became an active volunteer for Mercy St. Mary's and Oak Crest Manor after her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, going to the Casino, fishing and bingo. Dorothy especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and being with family and friends. She was a member of the V.F.W and American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Al, 3 daughters: Diane (Dave) Schuster and Deb (Mark) Tegeler both of Dyersville, Lori (Randy) Digmann of Baraboo, WI, 6 grandchildren: Abby (Josh) Moore, Adam Schuster, Jodi Tegeler, Megan, Kelsey, Brianna Digmann, step grandson, Jeff Tegeler, 2 step great grandchildren: Max and Maddie Tegeler, in-laws: Marilyn Weber, Inez (Clair) Fannon, Don (Mary) Neuhaus, Marie Neuhaus and Dick Anthony and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Elmer Steger, brother, Art Weber, in-laws, Lavern Neuhaus, Joann Anthony, niece, Chris Horsefield and nephew, Steve Anthony. Memorials have been established. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital at Dubuque and Dyersville, and especially Oak Crest Manor for their loving care that they provided the last eight months.
