Obituary of Leo Clement Goedken

Leo C. Goedken Sr., 77, of New Vienna, Iowa died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 – 10, Monday, July 11, 2016 at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #137. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate.
Leo was born July 14, 1938, in Dyersville, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Veronica (Krogmann) Goedken. He married Lois Staner on June 2, 1962, in Delhi, Iowa. Leo was a very talented carpenter, creating many one-of-a-kind wood pieces and parade floats. He most enjoyed summer days fishing with his wife, family and friends. He and Lois loved to travel and they made friends wherever they went. Leo enjoyed baking, bread and cookies being favorites. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lois, children: Sue Goedken of New Vienna, Bill (Stephanie) Goedken of Nashville, IL, Leo Jr. (Lisa) Goedken of Dubuque, Lisa Smith of Monona, Jack (Joan) Goedken of Independence, Sandy Harbaugh of St. Olaf, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, siblings: Anthony “Bud” (Esther) Goedken of Manchester, Donna (Irvin) Sellner of Earlville, Andrew (Maxine) Goedken of Dyersville, Grace Feldmann of Worthington, Eileen (Bill) Wiskus of Luxemburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys (Donald) Steger and brother-in-law, Tom Feldmann.
