Gloria A. Wolken, 86, of Monticello died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Silvercrest in Anamosa. Friends may call from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gloria was born April 6, 1925, in Boonville, MO the daughter of Salvatore and Athenia "Lena" (Quattrocchi) Fusco. She graduated from high school and began working at the Rock Island Arsenal. She eventually transferred to the VA Hospital in Iowa City, retiring in 1968. She married William D. Wolken and that union lasted 33 years until his death in 2001. Surviving are her daughter, Karen (Wayne) Tharp of Monticello, two grandchildren: Stacy Tharp and Tammy (Tim) Winders, both of Monticello, a brother, Frank (Winnie) Fusco of Davenport; their children: Debbie Fusco and Vincent Fusco, both of Irving, TX, Mary (Carl) Heiter of Boise, ID, a brother-in-law, Carl (Betty) Wolken of Monticello, their sons: Dr. Richard (LuAnn) Wolken of Monticello, Dr. Stanley Wolken of Incline Village, NV, and Dr. Stephan (Sue) Wolken of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Wolken, 1 daughter, Eva Louise Holt, 4 sisters: Marie Risner, Ellen and Angela Fusco and Lillian Sharp, and an infant brother, Anthony Fusco.
