From the Dyersville book written by Re. Arthur A. Halbach I learned an interesting
story.I and Eldon are third cousin ; our great-great grandmothers were sisters
last name Meyer, Eldon is a decedent of Anton Kirchhoff and Mary Meyer. I am a decedent of Franz Boeckenstette and Elizabeth Meyer. Franz and Anton name chaned when they got their citizenship. Kirchhoff change to Kerkhoff; Boeckenstette change to Boeckenstedt. The German word for church is Kirch the dutch word for church is Kerk. The dutch word for city was stedt. They must have had a dutch person do their citizenship.
