PETERSBURG, IOWA
Rose T. Hansel, 95, of Manchester and formerly of Petersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. Tues., Dec. 22, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wed. Dec. 23, 2015, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate.
Rose was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Petersburg the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ollendieck) Scherbring. She married Carl Hansel on Sept. 6, 1950, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Together they farmed in the Petersburg area until retiring in 1991. She was a member of the SS Peter & Paul Rosary Society and loved gardening and fishing. Her grandsons and great grandchildren were her favorites.
Survivors include her 2 daughters: Carol Herman of Manchester and Elaine Hansel of Dubuque, grandsons: Tony (Dawn) Herman of Hazelton, IA and Robert (Melanie) Herman of St. Cloud, FL, Chris (friend Cortney) Wuchter of Earlville, IA, and Jeff (Trish) Szalkowski of Dubuque, IA; great granddaughters, Rose Herman, Olivia Wuchter, Maddie Vosberg and Cassie, Sammie and Clare Szalkowski, great grandsons, Alex Herman and Declan Herman, special friend, Ed Pape of Manchester and his three children; a sister, Anna Marie Ries of Dyersville; in-laws: Anita Bond of Colesburg, John Latteyer of Shellsburg, Lonnie Latteyer of Manchester, Marlene Tumilty of Shellsburg, IA, LaVonne Bush of Colesburg and Fern Moser of Guttenberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1994, a son, Robert in 1970, a daughter, Dianne Wuchter in April 2015 and a son-in-law, Rodney Herman; siblings: Catherine Wolf, John Scherbring, Lawrence Scherbring, Christina Scherbring and Clementine Wolf; in-laws: James Hansel, Donald Hansel, and Roland Latteyer.
