Obituary of Richard Francis Davidshofer

Richard "Dick" F. Davidshofer 60, of Holy Cross, Iowa died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October, 23, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 5754 Maple Road in Holy Cross. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Noah Diehm officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Dick was born July 26, 1955 in Dubuque the son of, Frederick and Clara "Toots" (Goedken) Davidshofer. Dick graduated from Guttenberg High School the class of 1973. He married Sandy Gaul on May 19, 1984 in Earlville. Together they raised their 4 children on their farm north of Holy Cross. Dick farmed his whole life until he retired in 2014 due to his health. Dick also worked at Hubs, FS, and was a big help to his son Justin and his Custom Farming business. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church. He enjoyed family and friend gatherings, farm machinery, horses, and his Case and Oliver tractors, but most of all his grandson Jack. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sandy, 4 children: Amy Davidshofer of Farley, Justin Davidshofer and his son Jack Davidshofer of Holy Cross, Alyssa Davidshofer of Holy Cross, April (Justin) Romero of Marshall, MN, 3 siblings Dan (Barb) Davidshofer of New Vienna, Mae (Duane) Kluesner of Holy Cross, Joe (Joyce) Davidshofer of Bankston, parents in law Virgil and Helen (Sadler) Gaul, of Dubuque, brothers and sisters in law, Alan Gaul of Ames, Deb (John) Peters of San Diego , CA, Bev (Mark) Ostrowski of Lakeville, MN, Janeen (Jon) Hucker of Lester Prairie, MN, Kevin (Erin) Gaul of Pella, several beloved nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
