Virginette “Virgie” M. Singsank, 89, of Dyersville, Iowa died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, August 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 at Kramer Funeral. Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2015, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Carl Ries officiating.
Virgie was born on June 15, 1926 in Luxemburg, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Meyer) Steffen. She married Irvin Singsank on October 4, 1948 in Luxemburg, Iowa where they farmed for many years on the Singsank family Century farm. Virgie’s many hobbies included quilting, playing cards, gardening, and baking. She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and took great pride in being one of the Octoberfest Quilters.
Survivors include 6 children: Grace (Dan) Elgin of Bankston, Bob (Joan) of Orinda, CA, Sharon (Jack) Ruden of Epworth, Bill (Cheryl) of Belleville, IL, Amy (Dave) Boekholder of Dyersville, and Scott (Kathleen) of Elk Grove Village, IL; 15 grandchildren: Pete, Sara (Surface), Molly, and Mike Elgin, Kelly, Luke, and Annie Singsank, Jake Ruden, Kara and Nick Singsank, Carter, Drew, and Bryce Boekholder, Ryne and Megan Singsank; 6 great grandchildren and one due in January; sister: Joan Esch of Dyersville, in-laws: Ann Steffen of Dyersville, Eileen Dingbaum of Dyersville, Mae Pasker of Manchester, Gerald (Helen) Singsank of Dubuque and Jane Singsank of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin, in 2013; siblings: Leo (Monica) Steffen, Ray (Fran) Steffen, Art (Esther) Steffen, Lawrence Steffen, Marie Goebel-Winter (Larry Goebel and Emmett Winter), Rich (Nellie) Steffen, Ralph Steffen, Germaine (Norb) Wilwert, Jim Esch; in-laws: Delores (Ray) Hirtz, Dr. Clarence Singsank, Gib (Mert) Singsank, Marce (Harry) Steffen, Alphonse Pasker, Alver Dingbaum.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Crest Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and compassion. They are our Angels on Earth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Oakcrest Manor, Hospice of Dubuque, and The Dubuque Alzheimer’s Association.
