Ronald E. Heying, 79, passed away at his home of 4 years, the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, IA on June 10, 2015. “Ron” was born June 10, 1936, to Norbert and Irma (McCoy) Heying of Dubuque, IA and raised by his grandparents, Henry and Mary Heying of New Vienna, IA. Ron served in the U.S. Army following graduation from Saint Boniface High School in New Vienna. He spent much of his adult life living in Chicago working as a professional bartender until moving to Des Moines, IA in 1994, to be closer to his sister and her family. Ron remained an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Ron retired from the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines after enjoying years of providing a supporting role in bringing the arts to his community. Ron is survived and lovingly remembered by his sister, Dorene (Heying) Theisen Leo of Windsor Heights, IA, sister in law, Helen Heying of Chesterton, IN and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brothers, Marvin Heying formerly of Albuquerque, N.M. and Virgil Heying of Chesterton, IN, sister in law, Ruth Heying of Michigan City, IN and brother in laws, Harold C. Theisen and Guido C. Leo of Des Moines, IA. Kramer Funeral Home of Dyersville is handling funeral arrangements. A private service is being planned later this summer in New Vienna, IA at Saint Boniface Cemetery following interment of Ron’s ashes. Memorial contributions may be directed to Saint Boniface Catholic Church in memory of Ron. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.kramerfuneral.com.
