Deepest sympathy to all of you! My fondest/youngest memories of visiting Grandma Langel always included a walk to Bertie's. You were so lucky to have had her as long as you did - keep the memories close and she will be with you always!

To Dennis, Barb, Joyce and family - please accept my heart-felt condolences. So many great memories of spending time on your parent's farm during the summer as a city kid from Dubuque. I clearly remember gathering eggs, the old run-down, 1-room schoolhouse (great place to practice shooting sparrows with my BB gun), that white spitz dog along with the daily rosaries (that was new to me!), your mom playing the organ and rabbit hunting with Ray and dad down the road across from Langels (?)... Both your folks were great people and I'm glad I got to know them. Ann and I stopped by to visit Bertie in the summer of '12 at Stonehill. We walked into her room and I asked her if she knew who we were as it had been many years. She immediately said "Ratterman?" We had a great visit. Bob

My sympathy to the Goebel family. I have many memories of Uncle Ray and Aunt Bertha and visiting them in Luxemborg. Good food and fun laughter. My first husband Melvin Goebel (died in 1976,as a fireman in Cedar Rapids)always enjoyed visiting family and the Goebels had a big family. I think everyone loved Bertha who was so friendly and had a fun sense of humor. She loved to travel and she enjoyed life. And she always loved to talk about her family. I often called her at holiday time and stopped to see her when I was in Iowa. I live in California and get to Dyersville often. Bertha had a good life and now she is resting in peace. She will always be loved and missed. Janet Willenborg
