DYERSVILLE, IOWA
Marie E. Kreeb, 97, of Dyersville, Iowa died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville after a brief illness.
Friends may call from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 2:00.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Marie was born July 26, 1917, in Castle Grove, Iowa the daughter of John "Jack" and Elizabeth (Jasper) Dempsey. She went to school in Delaware County walking a mile and a half to and from. She married Raymond H. Kreeb on June 22, 1936 in Monticello, Iowa. Together moved to Dyersville where they owned and operated the Phillips 66 station until they purchased McCabe Cleaners in 1963 and renamed it Kreeb Cleaners. They had 4 children and also were foster parents to 10 lucky children.
Marie was a seamstress who did alterations at Kreeb Cleaners, developing many friendships that she enjoyed over the years. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing with Ray and fishing at their little cabin on the Mississippi River in Guttenberg.
Survivors include her children: Jack (Janet) Kreeb, Patty Kramer and Bill (Kay) Kreeb, all of Dyersville, Mike (Colleen) Kreeb of Tarpon Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren: Jon (Marsha) Kreeb, Janelle (Justin) Ison, Sara (Tim) Koch, Sally (Mike) Brant, Dan Kramer, Mike (Kerri) Kramer, Kristie (Brian) Cassidy, Matt (Jenny) Kreeb, Jennifer (Jeff) Joiner, David Kreeb, Bryon (Anne) Kreeb: great grandchildren: Jasmin and Josh Gerontis, Jonah, Ison, Brandon, Raymond and Alex Koch, Audra (Christian) Kahle, Taylor and Mitchell Brant, Julien, Jude and Sylvia Kramer, Maggie and Will Cassidy, Lillian and Elizabeth Kreeb, and Andrew, Alex and Gabrielle Kreeb; great-great grandchildren, Drew and Nate Kahle;
one sister, Kate Hageman of Marion, and a brother-in-law, Charles Kreeb of Coralville, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray in 1995, a son-in-law, Robert "Gar" Kramer; siblings: Viola (Leo) Chapman, Charlie and Clarence Dempsey, Lucille (Pat) Seehusen, Georgene (Robert) Brokens,
in-laws: Louise (Art) Holub, Marie (Bub) Bowling, Fred (Sylvia) Kreeb, Ralph Hageman and Eunice Kreeb.
Memorials are preferred to St. Francis Xavier Basilica and/or St. Francis Xavier Grade School.
