Ronald "Rooter" Rahe, 73, of Earlville, Iowa died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Manor Care in Dubuque, Iowa, following his courageous battle with cancer. His favorite saying at Manor care was "It could be worse."

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2014, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #137.
Ron was born May 11, 1941 in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Leo and Marie (Kronlage) Rahe. He attended St. Peter and Paul School. Ron served in the Army Reserves for six years. He farmed in the Petersburg area with his brothers Steve and Chuck. Ron enjoyed softball and bowling. He was a kind and caring person who would offer a helping hand to anyone.
Survivors include his siblings: Dick (Judy) Rahe of Dubuque, Rose Ann (Jerry) Burkle; Bob (Rita) Rahe and Paul (Grace) Rahe of Dyersville; Steve (Jeanne) Rahe of Earlville and Marilee (Dean) Stoline of Gaithersburg, MD; Connie (Paul) Wedewer of Aurora, CO; ;Charles (Bev) Rahe of Petersburg, ,Margie Rahe of Iowa City; Dave (Melinda) Rahe of Georgetown, TX, 33 nieces, nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law, Dena Rahe.
