Obituary of Donald Elmer Domeyer

Donald E. "Gomer" Domeyer, 74, of Petersburg, Iowa died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate. Survivors include his siblings: Roland (Terese) of Dubuque, James of Manchester, Laverne "Bud" of Petersburg, Mary Lou Gravel of Dyersville, John "Jack" (Shirley) of Holy Cross, twin sister Doris (John) Burlage of Monticello, Peter (Clarice) of Dubuque, in-laws: Rita Domeyer of Dyersville and Virginette Domeyer of Manchester and many nieces and nephews. Don was born September 4, 1936, the son of Andrew and Frances (Von Lehmden) Domeyer. He graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1956. Don then enlisted in the Navy serving from 1958-1962. He owned and operated Gomer's Grocery Store in Petersburg for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Milton (Marie), William, Daniel, Paul (Diane) Domeyer, in-laws: Ellen Domeyer, LaVon Domeyer and Loras Gravel.
