Frederick E. Hoeger, 80, of Holy Cross, Iowa died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Kramer Funeral
Home, in Holy Cross where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jose Comparan will officiate and V.F.W. Post will accord Military Honors.
Fred was born September 14, 1933 in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Leo F. and Pauline C. (Diers) Hoeger. He married the love of his life Irene Olsem on June 10, 1958 in Colesburg.at St. Patrick Church.
He was a farmer all his life and enjoyed driving tractors. He loved visiting with his children and grandchildren.
He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post and the Catholic Order of Foresters
Survivors include his wife, Irene, 6 children: Jody (Dave) Rolfes of Earlville, Jolene (Loras) Bagge of Worthington, Donita Eckrich of Coralville, Janice (Larry) Lansing of Dyersville, Lynn (Casey) Hoeger and Brenda (Brad) McAuliffe, both of Holy Cross; 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Wille of Monona; in-laws: Marlene Hoeger of New Vienna and Elmer (Wilma) Olsem of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Jean (George) Friedmann, Harold, Leo H. (Ileen), LaVerne (Elizabeth), Cyril, William (Ruth) Hoeger and Thomas J. Hoeger; several brothers-and sisters-in-law.
A Fred E. Hoeger Memorial Fund has been established.
