Sincere sympathy to the children and family of Shirley. I was shocked to hear the news of Shirley's passing. My mother lives at the Ellen Kennedy center and Shirley was always so friendly and helpful to her and me. I know she always watched out for my mother and reminded her when they were playing cards so that mom could play too. We will miss her!

To Shirley's family, Kim and I came to know Shirley when Eileen K moved to Ellen Kennedy several years ago. Shirley "looked after" Eileen because she knew that folks with dementia need some understanding and help. She was a woman with a purpose--whether it be mastering another puzzle, helping others, or being friendly to the folks who made visits to the center. She always seemed to have a good attitude about life. I thank you, since I can no longer thank Shirley, for the kindness and attention she showed Eileen and us the past few years. Kathy Keuter

I have known Shirley since the days of the Stardust & living in Delhi. Her and Bob would come in all the time. Then Fate brought me to her again when I started working at Ellen Kennedy 2 years ago. She was always helping others and when she got sick it was very hard for her to let someone take care of her. We're all going to miss seeing her at her puzzle table. She was there to greet you when you came in the front door. My deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother, Shirley. She was such a good friend to my Mom, Donna McGuire, and she helped Mom through some tough times (losing my Dad and later finding she had terminal cancer). I will always remember Shirley at the puzzle table as you enter EKLC, always friendly with a greeting for everyone. I loved her spunk, dry humor and deep concern for people. My condolences to the family.

I got to know your mom when I worked at the Ellen Kennedy, she was truly a very caring person, instead of us taking care of her she often worried about other people, she loved the bus trips through the Ellen Kennedy and would always find her by the puzzles. She always had a smile for you and would lend a helping hand to others. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. She talked about her children and her grandchildren often. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family.
