Obituary of Henrietta Elizabeth Lueck

Henrietta E. "Hattie" Lueck, 94, of New Vienna, Iowa passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.
Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, 750 12th Ave SW, where the V.F.W. Auxiliary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate.
Hattie was born February 28, 1919, in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of Henry S. and Elenora C. (Funke) Scherbring. She graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1937. Hattie married Lawrence C. Lueck on November 27, 1947.
Hattie was a homemaker and caretaker in her teen years and worked at St. Boniface Church Rectory having the honor of serving many Archbishops along with Rev. Aloysius Schmitt of Chaplain Schmitt Island. Hattie was a giving and caring person, helping her mother, her aunt and giving in-home perms to the elderly before there was a Beauty Salon in New Vienna.
Hattie cherished the many Army Reunions, bus trips as well music & dancing with her husband Lawrence. She also treasured many activities with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and card club. Hattie was active in her community including, Parish functions, the Altar Society, Senior Citizens, and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Edward W. Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary, receiving a 60 year membership medal, and was a Charter member of the New Vienna Historical Society, St. Boniface Choir and Tri County Sportsman.
She is survived by two children: Marilyn (Mike) Noel of Dubuque and Steve (Cathy) Lueck of Dyersville, 4 grandchildren: Joe (Jenna) Lueck of Balltown, Tony (Jenn) Lueck of Worthington, Rachel (Drew) Dunkel of Farley and Kevin Noel of Davenport, great grandchildren: twins, Clayton and Kierra, and Levi Lueck, Wyatt and Katie Lueck and Hattie Dunkel,
sisters-in-law: Sr. Helen Esther Lueck, F.S. P.A. of Lacrosse, WI and Hildegarde Lueck of Dyersville.
She was preceded in death by her father on February 23, 1919, her mother on April 24, 1990, her husband Lawrence on July 11, 1992, her sister, Marie (Hubert) Westhoff, brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Olive (Gregor) Deutmeyer, Rose Lueck, Clotilda Lueck, John (Marguerite) Lueck, Herb Lueck, Agnes (Allie) Lansing, Clara (Ed) Koelker and many nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Beckman High School and the New Vienna-Luxemburg Fire Dept.
