DYERSVILLE, IOWA
John W. Hagemann, 92, of New Vienna, Iowa died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.

Home 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec.27, 2013, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O'Connor will officiate.
John was born August 5, 1921, in New Vienna, Iowa, the son of Otto and Theresa (Recker) Hagemann. He married Veronica Hoeger on May 7, 1952, in St. Joseph's Church in Garnavillo, Iowa.
John enjoyed farming, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His passion was trout fishing and his fishing trips to Canada with his group of friends. John was a member of St. Boniface Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a past secretary of the New Vienna/Luxemburg Fire Dept. for 18 years and was on the board of the New Vienna Ins. Co. for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica, and five children: Mary Hagemann, Kevin (Diane) Hagemann both of Dyersville, David (Marlene) and James (Deb) Hagemann both of New Vienna, Donna (Rick) Kratz of Glendale, AZ, nine grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brothers: Walter (Irene) Hagemann of San Diego, CA., Edwin (Inez) Hagemann, Julius (Betty) Hagemann both of New Vienna, sisters: Delores Bierman and Eileen Hagemann both of Dyersville, brother-in-law, James Hesselmann of Niwot, CO, sisters-in-law, LaVerne Hagemann of Tequesta, FL. and Kathleen Hagemann of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Philip in infancy, his parents, brothers: Urban (Grace) Hagemann, Charles, Joseph and James Hagemann, sisters: Cindy Hagemann, Joan Hesselmann and brother-in-law, Fritz Bierman.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Angela, Nichole and Stacey, and those who cared for John at the Shady Rest Care Center for their excellent service.
Memorials may be given to St. Boniface Church or Hospice of Dubuque.
