Lois,
I'm so sorry to hear of Charlie's death.
I wasn't aware of his illness. He is so young.
Your beautiful obituary was a tribute to a great man.
I'm sure you will miss him terribly.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I was 20 years old when I met Charlie. In 1992, he had given me a job with Taylor Const. at the lowest point of my life. The strange part is I had never heard of him or his company before the job offer. I never understood exactly why Charlie recruited me and I never thanked him. I worked for his company for a few months and moved on. I ended up landing the job that I've been at for the past 20 years shortly after. I've always felt that my summer building bridges really helped me get my life on track. I'm saddened to hear of Charlie's passing and hope that he knows how much he helped me. His boost was exactly what I needed.
Thank You Charlie & RIP!
Michael Lightfoot Jr.

Our condolences to the Taylor family. Charlie was always a passionate man about his work and his love for his family. He was dedicated to the industry and truly believed in Krista and Tina. They made a great team. I lost my father very recently so I can relate to the void that losing Charlie will create. Fortunately he has left behind a strong family.
I'm sure Charlie and my dad are already making a few recommendations on how things can be run a little better in heaven.
We wish you comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I am so grateful for all the joyful memories of visits with Uncle Charlie. I always felt smarter after spending time with him. His wisdom was second only to his mischieveous sense of humor! My fondest memories are of sitting around and listening to one of Charlie's stories, anxiously awaiting the funny part! His smile had me laughing before he even got to the punch line. Uncle Charlie also had the most amazing humble and kind heart, which I feel so blessed to have experienced firsthand. When my Dad was sick and going through his cancer treatments, Uncle Charlie stepped in and helped in so many ways. His expression of love, strength and generosity to our family will forever be remembered. I will miss him dearly.

My dear Brother Charlie and I have had many memories over these 70 some years. After Charlie's accident when he was a little boy I got to stay with him at Aunt Mary's home in Holy Cross and we became extremely close over the years. I will miss him so much but very happy we saw him in Florida with Lois in January and once again in April...we had a wonderful time together and laughed lots. Lois, you have been Charlie's Angel taking such great care of him over the years. I thank you so very much.

Charlie how we will all miss you! We think of all of the years you put up with us girls...you were a dad to us all. I remember Tina and Dave's wedding as if it were yesterday. They had left for their honeymoon and you welcomed all of us girls and our families to the brunch the next day.
I remember you commenting that you were so happy that we all stayed close over the years. You will be missed and are forever in our hearts. To your family, you are in our prayers and we love you,
Tina's Wartburg Friends

Was so sorry to read in today's newspaper about Charlie's passing. Charlie was always a 'bigger than life individual' to me. Over the years Charlie and Lois would never miss a Camp Courageous Breakfast or Cruisin' For Camp or other events. Our paths would cross often each year…and Charlie would always have an adventure to tell me, that would fascinate me to no end. There was never a time I would ask Charlie for a favor for camp, that he didn't come through with flying colors. From being involved in the camp's beautiful, large, indoor pool to currently putting a bridge across camp's Lake Todd…Charlie was a man of his word…and person that believed in giving back…we will dearly miss him.

I have many fond memories of Charlie but I will never forget when he flew to San Francisco when my wife, his wee sister, became very sick. He wanted to make sure she was in good hands and, when he discovered her primary doctor was from Iowa, he left with a big smile on his face. We were very lucky to see Lois and Charlie in Florida in January and in their home in April. Lois, thanks for keeping Charlie with us for so long.
I will miss him......Scotty

Charlie was always good for a laugh...I remember the looks on my children's faces when they asked what happened to his fingers and he replied quickly that when he was a child they were too poor to afford 10 fingers so he only got a few on each hand. The look on my kid's faces was precious!
