Surviving are a son, Ken of Holy Cross; 4 daughters; Donna (Roger) Sweeney and Lou Ann Schmitt of Holy Cross; Janet (David) Patten of Lisbon, IA, and Darlene (Phil) Frasher of Worthington. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Christine (Dan) Reiss of Ryan, IA, Steve (Dawn) Sweeney of Robins, IA, Brian (Amy) Sweeney of Merriam, KS, Dawn (Tom) Cummer of Sherrill, IA, Mark Patten of Olathe, KS, Randy (Sarah) Patten of Mt. Vernon, IA, Danny (Sara) Patten of Lisbon, IA, Renee (Bryan) Casey of Anamosa, IA, Lynn (Matt) Schmitz of Dyersville, Michele (Ben) Jones of Dyersville and Kevin Boge (friend Martha McDonald) of Cedar Rapids, 4 step grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Irene (Ray) Schmitt of Dyersville and a brother, Peter (Madonna) Jaeger of Dubuque, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Aurelia Jaeger of Balltown, Eileen Schmitt of Epworth and Helen (Howard) Breitbach of Rickardsville. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 brothers: Tony, Nick, Matt, William, and John, and 2 sisters: Bertha Thomas and Alvina Knautz. Lucille was born on February 15, 1919 in Balltown, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret (Conrad) Jaeger. She married Joseph Schmitt of Holy Cross on September 9, 1941 at St. Francis Church in Balltown, Iowa. Joe preceded her in death on April 6, 2006. Lucille was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the Holy Cross Rosary Society. Lucille will be remembered for her unbelievable memory of life events like birthdays and anniversaries. She devoted her life to being a farm wife and mother. She loved to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross where a parish scripture service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Holy Cross, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Burkle.
