Obituary of Helen B. Warden
DYERSVILLE, IOWA
Helen Bernice Warden, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 at the MercyOne Senior Care in Dyersville.
Helen was born on July 28, 1938, in Delhi, Iowa to Wesley and Nellie (Turner) Neal, the fifth of seven children. Helen attended school in Masonville and Winthrop, Iowa. Helen was married three times to George Blake, Don Flannery, and Jim Warden.
During her life Helen held a variety of jobs working most of her work life as a nursing assistant. Helen moved around the country during her life, residing in Iowa, Florida, Oklahoma, Nevada and California, finally returning to Iowa. On returning to Iowa Helen lived for a time in Hopkinton and Manchester. She became an active volunteer in the communities she lived, including being honored with 2006 Volunteer Award by the Iowa Hospice Organization while living in Hopkinton.
Helen had a lifelong love of reading and doing cross word puzzles and was never without her stash of candy. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed traveling with her third husband, Jim Warden, in an RV. Helen was a fan of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and spoke often of meeting him at the Roy Rogers Museum in Victorville, California. She had a picture with Roy to prove it. Later in life, she became interested in family genealogy and history.
Helen is survived by her children, son John Boughton of Webster City, IA, daughter Cindi Blake of Bradenton Florida, Karla Alvarez Linn, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Terri Bey of Hampton, GA and Donna Kalinowski of Sparks, NV, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters in laws Rose Neal, St. Catherine, IA, Janice Neal, Ankeny, IA, Lois Neal, Cocoa Beach, Fl and many nieces, and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Howard, Harold, Burdett and Walter and sisters Grace Frommelt and Greta Thomas.
The Family wants to express their gratitude for the excellent care given Helen by the team members of Mercy One Senior Care over the last seven years who took Helen into their hearts and adopted her into their family.
