Obituary of Victoria Ann LeGrand

Please share a memory of Victoria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Victoria A. LeGrand, 71 of North Buena Vista, Iowa died Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg, Iowa. Vickie loved to laugh and spend time with family. Her wit and sense of humor lit up the room. She devoted her life to raising five children, then worked outside the home in various capacities such as sewing at Frommelt Industries and Flexsteel, CNA healthcare services, and then working in the casino industry. She worked in surveillance at the Diamond Jo Casino and then as supervisor of surveillance operations at the Mystique Casino. Vickie enjoyed her work immensely and took great pride in “taking a bite out of crime.” Outside the work environment, Vickie enjoyed quilting, creatively cooking extremely large amounts of food (to feed an army), and shopping. One of her recent favorite pastimes was feeding the squirrels (she named Limpy, Bent Tail and Bully) who were fed quite well. Other pastimes include writing and researching genealogy. Vickie’s personality was contagious and quite often initiated conversations with total strangers who later became best friends. Private family services will be Saturday, February 4th. Victoria was born August 26, 1945 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Adolph and Everetta Wachendorf. She married Kenneth LeGrand on December 29, 1962 in North Buena Vista, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Ken of North Buena Vista, five children: Thomas LeGrand of Dubuque, Kevin (Yichen) LeGrand of Daniels, WV, Steven (Tricia) LeGrand of Hazel Green, WI, Angie (George) Killian of McGregor, IA, William (Mindy) LeGrand of Wilton, IA,16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, siblings: Diane, Bobby, Sandy, Barb, Patty, Cathy, in-laws: Marvin LeGrand, Ron (Carol) LeGrand, Dorothy (Roy) Kennicker, and Darlene (John) Scudder.
