Justus R. Dowell, 26, of Monticello died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at 12:25 pm on December 19, 2016. A visitation will be held from 1 – 5 pm Monday, December 26, 2016, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Monticello Berndes Center in Monticello following the visitation. Justus was born August 1, 1990 in Mt. Pleasant, IA the son of Brett and Hope (Feasel) Dowell. Justus grew up in Mediapolis and Monticello Iowa and enjoyed sports in school, especially baseball, and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Justus’ passion was writing and singing music, and he loved to entertain both with music and a good story. Justus loved people and sought them out to lift them up and encourage them. He made it his personal mission to make people smile, and to feel cared for. To Justus everyone was as important as family. He is survived by his mother, Hope (Terry) Brimmer of Maquoketa, his father, Brett (Pam) Dowell of Kingston, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Lee Feasel and Judy Feasel, his step grandmother, Bette Brimmer; 3 brothers: Elijah Dowell and Caleb Dowell and Nathan (fiancé Riley Hosch) Dowell, all of Monticello; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jewell Dowell and Richard “RD” Dowell. Information available at www.kramerfuneral.com
