MONTICELLO, IOWA Kathryn E. Haag, 88, of Monticello died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 26, 2016, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a parish vigil will be held at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate. Kathryn was born August 28, 1927 in Monticello the daughter of James and Katherine (Rickels) Connolly. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School with the Class of 1944 and married Roman Haag on September 10, 1946. She was a telephone operator in Monticello for 10 years. After she raised her family she worked part time at the Monticello Shoppers Guide/Monticello Express until retiring in 2010. Kathryn was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Study Club. She was a fan of her grandchildren, attending all of their functions in school and summertime. She was also a fan of the Cubs and Hawkeyes. She enjoyed bowling and gardening. She and Roman were very active members of Sacred Heart Church. Kathryn is survived by 3 children: Jerry (Dianne) Haag, Tom (Tina) Haag and Marla (Jerry) Hinrichs, all of Monticello; 9 grandchildren: Aimee Haag Price, Jason, John, Dan, and Teresa Haag, Mark, Chris, Brian and Kayla Hinrichs, and 12 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Gregory Haag of New Orleans, and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Haag of Monticello. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2004, a brother, Paul (Anne) Connolly, and several in-laws. Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart School.
